The Outer Perspective of a Careers Coach

It‘s very easy to lose your way in life. You could get stuck in a job just because it’s handy for home and you like the people that work there. Why would you want to go through all the stress involved in moving to another position? But one day you might wake up and think my career hasn’t progressed as much as I wanted it to. But just how many years have you wasted in-between.

This is an incredibly common problem among IT staff. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Employing the services of an IT Architecture coach can stop this from happening in the first place. One of the first things they will do is create a career map with you. It will have a timeline written on it for you to follow. If you start to fall behind it will become a huge motivation tool to try and keep up.

Your IT coach will always be there to guide you along the way. They are not intrinsically involved in your life. They don’t care that the place you’re working at the moment just happens to be 10mins drive from home. And they certainly won’t accept that as an excuse to continue working there.

But I can’t move away from the area for personal reasons, I hear you ask. Well your coach can help you here too. What about promotion within your existing company. Work with your coach and decide what skills you need to progress within your existing company.

What ever your current circumstances, your IT Architecture coach will be able to devise a plan of action tailored specifically for you. They’ll then work with you to carry out your plan and help you when you need support along the way.

The important thing to remember is that it sometimes takes a look from the outside to realize what’s going wrong on the inside. If you could remove yourself from your body and take an honest view of yourself without any emotional attachment what so ever. Do you really think you’d be happy with what you saw? Do you think there’d be nothing you’d change?

I doubt it, but unfortunately science has yet to find a way of doing this. So you’re left with the only option, employ a careers coach to do it for you. But be warned you may not like what you hear.
